Why I'm Practically Giving This Away (It’s only $10 Bucks!)

A few years ago, I got an email that stopped me in my tracks.

It was from a woman who had been following me for a while — watching my videos, reading my blog, even downloading my free guides. She was clearly interested in learning surface pattern design. But something was holding her back.

Her message said: "Anne, I registered for your Doodles Coaching Week, but now I'm second-guessing myself. It's only ten dollars. Is it actually good? Or is it one of those things where you get what you pay for?"

I sat with that email for a few minutes before I replied.

Because here's the thing — she wasn't being rude. She was being honest. And I get it. And I think a lot of you have that same quiet question in the back of your mind.

So today I'm going to answer it. I want you to understand not just what the From Doodles to Dollars® Coaching Week actually is... but why I've made the very intentional decision to price it the way I do.

Let’s Start Here

When I first started teaching this material, I had one goal: get it into the hands of as many creative women as possible.

Not because I needed the validation. Not because I wanted a big launch number to brag about. But because I had seen, over and over again, what happens when you think it’s too late to learn a new skill. It’s not too late and in fact I believe that so whole-heartedly that I trademarked this phrase: It’s Never Too Late To Create®.

I've seen the emails. I've been in the Zoom calls. I've watched a 74-year-old creative go from "I can't even find Illustrator on my computer" to designing patterns for her grandchildren's bedding — in a matter of months.

And I kept thinking: How many women like her are sitting on the sidelines, not because they don't want this, but because the price of entry feels like a risk they can't justify?

Maybe retired, or semi-retired, or living on a fixed income. Maybe you have to ask permission to spend money on something that's "just for you." You may be wondering whether you’re too old, too untechnical, too behind.

A $10 price tag doesn't eliminate all of that hesitation. But it lowers the barrier enough for you to say: Okay. I'll try it. Ten dollars? That's worth finding out.

And once you’re inside? That's when the real magic happens.

What the $10 Actually Buys You

Let me be very clear about what From Doodles to Dollars® Coaching Week actually is, because I think the price makes some people picture a PDF download and not much else.

It is NOT that.

Over five days, we work through everything a complete beginner needs to create your very first repeating pattern from scratch. We go from doodle to digital to a design that actually repeats — seamlessly, professionally, and beautifully. No art degree. No technical background. No prior experience with Adobe Illustrator required.

You'll draw a simple motif — we're talking something you could sketch on a napkin in thirty seconds. A leaf, a little flower, a wonky heart. One simple thing.

Then I walk you through exactly how to bring that doodle into Adobe Illustrator and turn it into a repeating pattern using just a handful of tools. Not the overwhelming toolbar with 97 things to click. A handful. Only the tools that matter.

And at the end of the week, you'll have a pattern. A real one. Yours.

You also get access to downloadable PDF guides that cover every step I demonstrate in each lesson — complete with screenshots — so you can reference them as you work.

And then there's the community. I ask every participant to post their work — yes, homework! — and what happens in that group is honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole week. Watching women cheer each other on, seeing the patterns come to life in real time, witnessing someone post their very first repeat tile and get flooded with encouragement from women who were in the exact same place just days before. Everyone loves seeing the progress they're making.

That's what the From Doodles to Dollars® Coaching Week is all about. And the cost? Just $10.

Compare that to a single fancy latte. A matinee movie ticket. Half a manicure!

I'm not trying to be glib — I'm trying to give you a genuine reality check. Because I know that when something is priced this low, people have questions.

The Reason Behind the Price

Here's the honest truth about why I've chosen this pricing model, and why it works.

I think of From Doodles to Dollars® Coaching Week as the front door to everything I teach. It's the place where someone who has never tried this before gets to see — really see — what surface pattern design feels like, what it looks like to build something from nothing, and whether this might be a path worth exploring more deeply.

If you love it? You have options. You can continue learning, go deeper, with me or someone else. You can get serious and build a real business from your patterns if that's your dream.

If you’re not sure yet? You learned something new, discovered a skill you didn't know you could master, and spent ten dollars. That’s a pretty low barrier.

I intentionally price it this way because I want the decision to be a no-brainer. Not a "let me think about it for a week" decision. Not a "I'll wait until next time." A right-now, yes-I'm-in decision.

That's the idea. Make the investment so accessible that the only thing standing between you and your first pattern is deciding to show up.

What Students Have to Say

One of my favorite things a student has ever said to me about this program came from Kathryn. She told me: "I thought, okay, ten dollars is a great way to see if your able to teach in a way that works for me. So I joined. I didn't miss a single session. I watched your joy, your patience, and your beautiful authentically. It was just the perfect blend for me to see that yes, I can do hard things."

She went on to enroll in Pattern Design Academy®.

That's the journey I see play out over and over again. Ten dollars becomes confidence. Confidence becomes commitment. Commitment becomes a creative business — or at minimum, a creative life — that you’re proud of.

Another student told me that DCW was where she finally stopped being afraid of Illustrator. She'd owned it for years. Paid for it, avoided it, felt guilty about it every time she opened her laptop. One week with me and she was making patterns and wondering why she'd waited so long.

This is the whole point.

The Early Bird Price Ends April 4th

I want to make sure you have the full picture. From Doodles to Dollars® Coaching Week is $10 right now. That price is available through Saturday, April 4th. After that, the price more than triples to $37.

(Which, for the record, is still an excellent deal. But $10 is something special, and I'd love for you to take advantage of it.)

Everything officially starts on Monday, April 13th. But we kick things off on Sunday evening, April 12th with our Welcome Party — a chance to get settled in, meet your fellow participants, and arrive at day one already feeling welcomed and ready.

If you're wondering whether this is for you, let me offer you a gentle reframe: the question isn't really "should I spend $10 on this?" The real question is: "Am I willing to spend five days finding out what I'm capable of?"

I think you already know the answer.
